Personal Accident Insurance covers injury caused by “violent visible and external means”. This policy is issued to individuals or groups with the basic cover of accidental death and optional cover of permanent incapacitation, temporary incapacitation and medical expenses. In the event of death by accident the insured’s beneficiary (ies) receives the insured sum and under the temporary and permanent incapacitation cover, the insured receives the benefits in proportion to Social Security benefits. Medical benefits can range between 10% and 20% of the basic sum insured. Sickness policies cover temporary disablement by illness for a weekly amount, usually for up to 52 weeks, against the personal accident limit of 104 weeks.
